The kids typically bring in their own snack and drink, so that part should be easy enough.
Science stations -- As Hannah said at the meeting, the schedule says science stations but you could do whatever you want. She asked me to share a few ideas with you. I'm going to start with some book ideas and then move to activities.
I hope this email has helped you. If you've got questions, please ask me or someone else.
Below is one other book I found when I did one of my searches. This author also has books listing preschool activities of all sorts.

- The library (Mecklenberg) has a series of leveled science books called Let's Read and Find Out. There is a wide range of topics, and my kids have found them to be interesting. I'm not sure if the link will continue to work, but I put "Let's Read and Find Out" as my search terms. https://cmlibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?query=lets+read+and+find+out&searchType=smart
- There is another series of leveled books called Blastoff readers. In section 599 (Dewey decimal) there are lots of these about animals that one of my kids has really enjoyed, but the series also includes books on many topics. https://cmlibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?locked=false&query=blastoff+readers&searchScope=NC-CHARLOTTEMECKLENBURG&searchType=smart
- Another idea would be to read books related to the month/time of year. If you go here, you can find great lists for each month plus tons of quality picture book ideas. I absolutely love this website and the podcast. What's great about Sarah's lists is that she focuses on contemporary lit and has introduced me to many new authors that I wouldn't have known about if I'd just read Honey for a Child's Heart or Jim Trelease's Reading Handbook. I can't recommend this website enough!!!!! https://readaloudrevival.com/start-here/
- Science stations: Mudpies to Magnets is one source. It lists experiment ideas for kids as young as 2. https://cmlibrary.bibliocommons.com/v2/search?locked=false&query=mudpies+to+magnets&searchScope=NC-CHARLOTTEMECKLENBURG&searchType=smart
- You could also do various finger plays/finger rhymes or have the kids listen to songs and act them out. For ex, song by The Wiggles or Laurie Berkner (my kindergarten class some years ago loved acting out some Laurie Berkner songs) or songs that use rhythm sticks or require them to balance a beanbag on their head, shoulder, elbow, knee, etc.
- They could do things related to magnets, sinking/floating, weight, textures, sorting, listening, and so much more. It looks like you can search for preschool science on the library search page and come up with lots of books. Or, if you are on Pinterest, there are so many ideas, too.
- To keep from being overwhelmed by the sheer multitude of excellent choices, you could consider coming up with a plan. For example, maybe you want a topic for each month such as Aug: bugs, Sept: body, Oct: farm animals. Then you could choose activities or books that relate to the overarching theme. Or maybe you want to decide that every week you'll read a picture book but that weeks 1 & 3 of each month you'll also do some sort of experiment and weeks 2 & 4 of each month you'll do finger plays or a song. Really, it's whatever works for your style and interests.
